Job Details Location: Hawarden, IA 51023. Position Type: Full Time. Hawarden Regional Healthcare is a growing Critical Access Hospital located on the Iowa/South Dakota Border between Sioux Falls, SD and Sioux City, IA. The hospital is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art imaging equipment including a new MRI suite, a 160 slice CT scanner, digital radiography, 3D mammography, ultrasound, bone densitometry, and C‑arm. Responsibilities Operate radiation‑producing equipment under the direction of the Radiology Manager and in compliance with the technical direction of the Radiologist. Administer roentgen rays in performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for attending physicians. Prepare exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications; ensure proper patient positioning. Process exposed films and perform general office duties such as answering the telephone, filing, and updating patient records. Provide patient services using imaging modalities, answer questions, and report any patient condition variances. Initiate life support measures when required and assist physicians in administering radio/opaque media. Follow safety standards and governmental regulations, including lead shielding and infection control policies. Perform portable radiological procedures using sterile techniques in surgery, emergency department, or inpatient rooms. Assist in first aid in emergency cases and perform other miscellaneous departmental tasks. Serve as patient escort when necessary. Supervise the department during weekends or when the supervisor is unavailable. Maintain stock supplies in exam rooms and monitor equipment calibration and proper technique to ensure quality radiographs. Respond to on‑call responsibilities with timeliness, efficiency, and professional attitude. Identify issues/occurrences, communicate them through established authority lines, and assist in resolving variances. Keep up to date on new procedures and research; participate in departmental meetings, committees, and Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory training such as Healthstream, Safe Choices, and other administration‑designated training. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications ARRT registered or registry eligible and registered by the state. Prior radiology experience preferred. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Effective communication skills with the health‑care team. Ability to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change. Familiarity with department‑specific software (Healthstream, etc.) and general computer use. Capacity to lift supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting. Physical Requirements Pass pre‑employment physical examination and drug screening; adhere to annual health directives. Work inside the hospital with frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting of supplies. Use appropriate safety transfer techniques and body mechanics when moving, transporting patients or equipment, sometimes in excess of 50 pounds. Function under frequent stressful situations and be exposed to environmental elements such as inclement weather, dust, noise, chemicals, and infectious disease.
