Registered Nurse

Position/Specialty: Medical Surgical - Client Shift: 3x12 nights (1900-0730) Weekends: Every other weekend Holidays: Every other holiday

This is a 27-bed medical and surgical unit. The unit takes patients on general telemetry. Patients are monitored in a monitor room but do not receive cardiac drips. Typical patient demographics include individuals recovering from strokes, post-back surgeries, and post-hip or knee replacements. The unit also accommodates patients receiving oncology treatments. First-time travelers are accepted.

The following skills are required:

• Accessing and managing ports
• Administration of chemotherapy
• Managing BiPAP/CPAP
• Blood product administration
• Central line blood draw
• Colostomy and ileostomy management
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
• Managing dysrhythmias
• Monitoring chemotherapy patients
• Total joint replacement management
• Care for tracheostomy patients
• Wound care and wound vac management

The daily census for the unit averages 26 patients. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must be willing to float based on facility census and staffing needs. Unprofessional behavior, attendance issues, or shift call-offs may result in immediate contract termination.
