Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to delivering patients, assisting physicians, and managing labor processes. This role involves assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and ensuring safe delivery experiences.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Evaluate patients conditions and assist physicians with labor and delivery procedures.
  
  
• 
  Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans based on patient assessments.
  
  
• 
  Perform therapeutic nursing interventions, including EFM, vaginal exams, and assisting with instrumental deliveries.
  
  
• 
  Manage patient care throughout labor, monitoring progress and responding to changes.
  
  
• 
  Document clinical assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with standards.
  
  
• 
  Advocate for evidence-based practices to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold an ASN or higher nursing degree; BSN preferred.
  
  
• 
  Possess at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery; 4+ years preferred.
  
  
• 
  Maintain current NJ State Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
  
  
• 
  Hold BLS certification; ACLS, NRP, and EFM certification required.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy, IV insertion, and circulating in OR for C-sections.
  
  
• 
  Have experience with vaginal exams and instrumental delivery assistance.
