Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Specialist in Tacoma, Washington. This position involves providing advanced neonatal care to pediatric and neonatal patients, supporting interhospital transport via ground or air, and collaborating with a specialized team to deliver high-quality care. The role offers a dynamic environment serving a comprehensive region with advanced technology and equipment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, start date 09/08/2026
• Required Qualifications: Five years of experience in Pediatric Emergency Department (PEDs ED) and Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including at least one year each in neonatal and pediatric intensive care, plus three years of neonatal/pediatric transport experience within the last five years; Washington State license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); supports interhospital transport via ground or air, airway management, vasoactive drips/infusion, non-invasive ventilation (Bipap/HFNC), respiratory inhaled medication administration, IV/IO access.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trainees who have not previously traveled are considered.
• Patient Types / Common Diagnoses: Pediatric and neonatal patients with diagnoses including hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), perinatal hypoxic-ischemic neuroprotective (ppHN), asthma, respiratory illness, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), other metabolic disorders, trauma (accidental and non-accidental), ingestions, congenital heart defects, cancer, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
• Technology / Equipment: Phillips monitor, Hamilton ventilator, Braun and Baxter IV pumps, Tecotherm, Zoll defibrillator, TXP, Cross Vent, Zoll emsCHARTS, EPIC electronic medical records system, Stryker gurney, transport isolette, ambulance and aircraft equipment (safety day training included in orientation).
• Float: When not transporting, will assist in units where needed; may serve as helping hands.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• On Call: No.
