The position helps you develop the skills needed to work safely and effectively in transportation maintenance. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Training: Learn to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other construction equipment while completing required checks and adjustmentsTool Use: Select and use motorized and non-motorized tools including shovels, chain saws, compressors, and patching machinesSafety Practices: Follow safety procedures, make visual observations, and report findings to protect yourself, coworkers, and the publicWorksite Awareness: Stay aware of hazards, avoid risks, and report injuries or equipment accidents immediatelyEnvironmental Compliance: Carry out environmental protection and management requirements for maintenance activitiesWork Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Hours are subject to change due to weather or season; winter shifts will be 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
