Gastroenterologist Position

Central Maine Medical Center, a Prime Healthcare affiliated hospital, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established and expanding Digestive Health program in Lewiston, Maine. This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive gastroenterology in a collaborative hospital-based environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, radiology, and primary care teams. Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and patient safety initiatives. Maintain timely and accurate electronic medical record documentation. Adhere to medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, Biopsy and polypectomy, Hemostasis and dilation, PEG placement. Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal conditions including: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Liver disease and hepatitis, Pancreatic disorders, Gastrointestinal bleeding. Participate in a shared call schedule.

MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency. Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology. Eligible for or active Maine medical license. DEA registration. BLS and ACLS certification.

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $527,000 to $594,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
