Job Title Law Enforcement Highway Patrol Officer I – Agency 585, Department of Public Safety, Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). Responsibilities Conduct traffic patrols on roads and highways in assigned district. Enforce motor vehicle, criminal, and other applicable laws. Safeguard citizens and property and apprehend violators. Provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies and the general public. Qualifications General Requirements : United States citizen; age 21–45; meet education prerequisites; complete Peace Officer Screening and Selection Exam (POSSE) and required background and physical tests; upload resume and supporting documents in Workday. Lateral Applicants : current full‑time Certified Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) with ≥2 years of service OR former LEO with ≤1 year out of service and ≥2 years of prior service. Traditional Applicants : no prior law‑enforcement experience required. Education Requirements Associate’s degree or 62 semester hours from accredited institution; military or law‑enforcement service can substitute up to 30 semester hours with specified criteria. Consider advanced standing credit from Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City for graduates of the OHP Academy. Benefits 15 days paid vacation and 15 days sick leave. 11 paid holidays each year.
