Asst Grocery Sales Manager- King's & Balducci's

Job Overview Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Sales Manager to lead, innovate, and contribute to growth. This role involves managing categories, increasing sales and market share, and collaborating with store staff, vendors, and corporate merchandising teams. Responsibilities Strategically manage categories to increase sales, gross dollars, and market share. Create and implement pricing, promotion, assortment, and shelf planograms based on analysis and industry best practices. Travel to assigned stores to share merchandising plans and achieve sales, gross and labor targets. Create yearly category business plans and track performance against projected sales and profit contribution. Develop detailed pricing strategy by zone and maintain it throughout the year. Implement a promotional calendar, and track results at the end of each promotion. Design schematics, recommend adjacencies, and determine appropriate product assortment. Authorize new items and discontinue lines based on potential contribution. Maintain scorecards to track sales, gross profit, and share of each category. Measure total contribution to the department and maximize category efficiency. Project sales and gross profit at the category, department, and division levels. Conduct in‑depth post‑promotional analysis at item and category levels. Plan advertisements and displays to support category plans and department initiatives. Coordinate and communicate among stores, merchandising, and other corporate functions. Serve as primary contact for all vendors in assigned categories. Meet with vendors for deal negotiation and business updates. Collaborate with procurement to ensure inventory levels meet service and financial goals. Attend key vendor planning meetings. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement programs. Visit stores as necessary to observe merchandising outcomes. Implement corporate initiatives when appropriate for the division. Provide direct supervision of applicable office support staff. Lead hiring decisions, performance reviews, and training activities. Qualifications 5–10+ years of retail/category experience. 15+ total years in the grocery industry. 5+ years of people management experience. Skills and Experiences Solid understanding of marketing, merchandising, consumer research, and financial management. Excellent grasp of store operations and merchandising methodologies. Strong analytical, financial, and statistical background. Proven problem‑solving skills and decisive decision‑making. Strong planning, organization, written, and verbal communication abilities. Strategic planning and relationship‑management skills. Skilled in category business planning and leadership. Understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory management. Experience managing specialty and import grocery categories. Travel Requirements Division‑wide travel, up to 50% of time. Physical Environment Work may be performed in a temperature‑controlled environment. Must sit, stand or walk for extended periods. May spend long periods at desk or computer terminal. Use of calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required. Fast‑paced workday; some evening and weekend work may be required.
