DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on assisting with construction inspection services and project documentation to support safe, high-quality work. You will observe operations, record project activities, and help verify contractor compliance. As a Transportation Technician, you will perform the following duties: Construction Inspection: Assist with inspecting routine phases of highway construction including grades, elevations, and work zone controls Project Documentation: Review work unit records and materials used to ensure accuracy and conformance with policies Field Observation: Observe construction operations and enforce contract requirements to maintain quality standards Technical Review: Read and research plans, drawings, contracts, specifications, and manuals related to construction projects Material Testing: Support testing of materials and interpret specifications for sampling and inspection methods Record Maintenance: Prepare and update inspection reports, sketches, field notes, and project documentation including electronic applications Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
