The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care on an adult medical/surgical unit serving patients with active co-morbid psychiatric and behavioral issues. This role requires flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to care for a varied patient population in a dynamic environment. The nurse will perform patient assessments, medication administration, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team while maintaining dual competencies in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing. At least two years of medical/surgical nursing experience, along with psychiatric and telemetry experience, are required. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two years medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Experience in psychiatric nursing.
- Telemetry monitoring experience.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience working with adult patients with co-morbid psychiatric and behavioral issues.
- Dual-certification in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing (after experience requirement is met).
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
- Must be willing to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
- Availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback as required by unit needs.
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned.
- Must be able to obtain a TB skin test.
- Rotating shifts including day, evening, and night schedules.
- Weekend and holiday work required.
- Shift assignments are based on unit staffing needs and may include on-call and callback duties.
