Americares opened its first clinic in 1994 to expand access to care for the working poor. Over the years, our program has grown to become the largest free clinic network in the state with four locations serving 2,000 patients annually. Today, our clinics in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford are the primary source of free medical care for the uninsured in Fairfield County. About the Position The Assistant Director, Registered Nurse will work closely with the Clinic Director to provide quality, respectful care to all patients and provide direct supervision to Medical Assistants. This position supports clinical operations to deliver safe, high-quality patient care and to ensure a seamless, efficient clinic experience for both patients and staff. Key areas of focus include clinical and operational excellence, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction. The Assistant Director, Registered Nurse will function as the clinic director in his/her absence. In addition, this position will assist the clinic director throughout clinic sessions, with follow-up and with special projects and other activities. Key Outcomes Learn and live the Americares values. Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings, including Athena learning modules. Develop a deep understanding of the free clinic model and patient population. Learn the operational flow of the clinic, understanding each role and associated responsibilities. Partner with Clinic Director to understand how to independently manage clinic to provider coverage during absences. Build relationships with staff and volunteer providers and learn individual patient treatment styles and how to schedule patients for each provider. Understand interpretation needs and successfully demonstrate interpretation skills. Be familiar with available resources, medications, and specialty care available to patient population. First 6 Months Master Athena EHR. Be able to serve as clinic director in director’s absence for weeklong period. Demonstrate flexibility within the clinical environment. Be familiar with clinic policies and procedures to ensure consistent patient care. First Year Master all aspects of clinic technology. Demonstrate deep understanding of clinic policies and procedures. Work in conjunction with the staff to provide a high level of quality and safe care. Function independently in the role of Assistant Director. Duties and Responsibilities Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission. People manage staff, ensuring their success in meeting objectives while also supporting their professional growth. Demonstrate professionalism and skill in working with staff and patients. Provide follow up and continuity of care for patients. Oversee the efficient and effective functioning of Clinic sessions. Supervise, orient, train and evaluate the competency of clinic staff and volunteers. Ensure that assessment of patient eligibility is in line with our policies and procedures. Work with providers to provide comprehensive medical services, including medications and referrals. Responsible for special assignments and projects as designated by clinic director. Acknowledge that AFC maintains a policy and procedure manual at all locations; and follow and enforce the policies and procedures set forth in the manual. Required Competencies Professional fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese (competency assessment required) Proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS) Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage clinical operations and staff Ability to supervise, orient, and evaluate the clinical competency of staff and volunteers Demonstrated computer skills and use of electronic health records (EHR) Ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously and adapt to changing needs Preferred Competencies Experience with Athena EHR Previous managerial experience or experience overseeing operations in a clinic setting Core Competencies of the Organization Ownership and results Communication Problem solving Equity and inclusion Teamwork and conflict resolution Leadership Prioritization Management Strategy and planning Decision making US work authorization required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
