Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA licensure, BSN, and at least 4 years of recent ICU experience.

Details

• Float pool position covering ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU across UCSF facilities
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Schedule cycles run 4 weeks and may alternate between day and night shifts based on need
• 1:2 patient ratio typical for ICU assignments
• Required to float to other UCSF facilities and departments within a 75+ mile radius as needed
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• BSN required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience within the last 6 months to 1 year
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
• Recent travel assignment completed within the past 12 months required
• Proficient in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of vasoactive drips
• Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties including CVICU, MICU, SICU, and Transplant ICU
• May assist with advanced interventions such as ECMO, IABP, or CRRT depending on unit assignment
• Works within a teaching hospital environment supporting complex, high-acuity patients
• All RTO must be submitted and approved at the time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract
• RTO may not fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
• Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work together on the same unit
