A Top-Tier Global Pharma Leader is seeking a highly organized Contract Scientist to join the Discovery Genomics team in Cambridge, MA. This 18-month onsite role focuses on supporting established bioinformatics workflows, metadata management, and NGS data analysis in a high-throughput operational environment. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels at executing routine computational tasks with accuracy and consistency.

responsibilities:

• Support routine computational analysis of functional genomics and transcriptomics datasets (Bulk RNA-seq, Perturb-seq, and amplicon-seq) using established internal pipelines.
• Manage experimental registration, source sample tracking, and data entry within Benchling and other data management platforms.
• Process pooled genomic perturbation screen data and raw FASTQ files using NextFlow pipelines and Cell Ranger workflows.
• Ensure data retention, visibility, and accessibility by maintaining meticulous records of analyses, inputs, and outputs.
• Partner with cross-functional team members to prioritize analyses and troubleshoot routine pipeline issues.
• Coordinate with CROs for data downloads and process samples through internal reporting workflows to ensure timely project completion.

 
qualifications:
Required:

• Master's degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience supporting computational pipelines and handling structured NGS data outputs.
• Strong familiarity with UNIX/Linux infrastructure and sequencing file formats (FASTQ, count matrices).
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity and reproducibility.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Cambridge, MA.

Preferred:

• Experience with Benchling or similar sample tracking systems.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or shell scripting.
• Experience with cloud-based computing (AWS) and NextFlow.
