This newly re-envisioned full-time leadership role will oversee day-to-day operations, drive strategic initiatives, strengthen internal communication, and support organizational effectiveness across all areas of the museum. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Associate Executive Director & Impact officer will serve as a key operational and strategic partner, helping translate vision into execution while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Museums have long preserved the stories of the past through objects, archives, and scholarship. Today, cultural institutions are also being called upon to help communities navigate contemporary challenges and imagine more engaged futures. The ideal candidate will combine operational expertise with entrepreneurial thinking, collaborative leadership, emotional intelligence, and a deep commitment to organizational excellence and community engagement. About the Jewish Museum of Florida The Jewish Museum of Florida opened in Miami Beach in 1995, evolving from “Mosaic,” a traveling exhibition documenting Jewish history throughout Florida. The museum is housed within the historic former Beth Jacob Synagogue campus, including the first synagogue on Miami Beach, located in a neighborhood once shaped by discriminatory housing restrictions against Jewish and Black residents. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2012, the museum was gifted to Florida International University. Beginning August 1, 2026, the museum, its collections, historic campus, and remaining endowment assets will transition back to the original nonprofit entity, Jewish Museum of Florida, Inc., marking the beginning of a new era of independent leadership and institutional growth. The next generation of JMOF will build upon its nationally accredited legacy while embracing innovation, digital accessibility, civic dialogue, and statewide community engagement. The museum seeks to expand public participation, deepen educational impact, and foster greater cross-cultural understanding through exhibitions, scholarship, and storytelling rooted in the Florida Jewish experience. Mission The Jewish Museum of Florida collects, preserves, and interprets the material evidence of the Florida Jewish experience from 1763 to the present. Through exhibitions, education, scholarship, and public engagement, JMOF explores how Jewish communities have contributed to the evolving cultural mosaic of Florida while balancing heritage, tradition, and contemporary identity. The museum uses the experiences of Jewish Floridians as a lens to promote cross-cultural understanding, civic dialogue, and public education about American and global Jewish history. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Support Provide operational leadership and support across all museum departments. Serve as a primary point of contact and resource for staff, helping address challenges, prioritize projects, and facilitate solutions. Foster a collaborative, and a safe workplace culture where staff feel supported, valued, and empowered. Conduct regular team and individual check-ins to align priorities, track progress, and support both short-term execution and long-term planning. Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO on organizational operations, staffing, and institutional initiatives. Operational Strategy & Execution Develop and implement internal systems and processes that improve communication, workflow, scheduling, and organizational effectiveness. Track institutional priorities, deadlines, and action items to ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with strategic goals. Collaborate with staff to streamline operations, reduce bottlenecks, and improve efficiency across departments. Assist in the execution of critical projects and operational needs, particularly in areas that are understaffed or underserved. Anticipate organizational challenges and proactively implement practical solutions before issues escalated. Communication & Organizational Systems Lead staff meetings with clear agendas, actionable next steps, and accountability measures. Create communication structures that ensure information is timely, accessible, transparent, and actionable across the organization. Serve as a connector between departments to strengthen collaboration, alignment, and shared institutional understanding. Support the adoption and implementation of technology tools and software solutions that enhance productivity and organizational capacity. Qualifications & Skills Minimum of five years of experience in operations, administration, project management, nonprofit leadership, or a related management role. Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Experience within nonprofit organizations preferred; museum experience is welcome but not required. Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities. Collaborative and supportive leadership style that values transparency, teamwork, and accountability. Adaptable, growth-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for learning new systems, technologies, and operational approaches.
