Job Description
Virginia's Premier Teaching Group Practice
Some of the most important lessons in counseling happen after graduation. They happen in sessions with real clients, in conversations with experienced supervisors, and in those moments when you realize there's still so much to learn.
At Seasons Counseling, we believe becoming a great therapist takes more than clinical hours. It takes curiosity, experience, thoughtful supervision, and a team that genuinely cares about your development.
That's why we've built Seasons around the philosophy of a Teaching Group Practice where there is a structured focus on clinician development from individual and group supervision hours.
What makes Seasons different?
In addition to a "teaching first" approach to nurturing our residents, we also recognize that great clinical work requires support outside the therapy room. That's why we've built the administrative systems and team infrastructure to handle much of the business side of practice, allowing you to focus on your clients and professional development.
What you can expect at Seasons :
- Clinical supervision at no cost. Residents receive approximately 2.5 hours of combined individual and group supervision each week. Supervision includes case consultation, clinical decision-making, treatment approaches, documentation, and professional development.
- Experienced clinical mentors. Learn from knowledgeable supervisors who are invested in your growth. You'll have opportunities to ask questions, work through challenging cases, and develop confidence in your clinical judgment.
- A supportive, collaborative team. Our clinicians regularly exchange ideas, share resources, and help one another. You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own.
- A gradual approach to building your caseload. We introduce clients progressively, giving residents time to develop their skills and confidence while establishing a sustainable practice.
- Comprehensive administrative support. Seasons manages client intake, appointment scheduling, insurance administration, and billing. We handle the business operations so you can concentrate on being a therapist.
- Full Time W-2 employment and benefits. Residents earn $41.20 per hour and are considered full time when they manage a least a 25 clients/week caseload. High performing residents are allowed to manage above 25 clients/week on a merit basis. We provide the malpractice coverage needed to practice, paid time off for eligible employees, and established systems to support your work.
- A clear path toward licensure. Our full-time residency program is structured around an expected path to LPC licensure within approximately 24 months of joining Seasons, depending on individual progress and Virginia Board of Counseling requirements.
What you'll do:
You'll provide individual outpatient mental health counseling to children, adolescents, and adults at our Locus Grove office, working within your areas of training and competence.
Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Providing individual therapy under appropriate clinical supervision.
- Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation.
- Participating in individual and group supervision and clinical case discussions.
- Collaborating with colleagues and following established clinical and ethical standards.
Who we're looking for:
We're interested in people who are curious, compassionate, receptive to feedback, and committed to becoming excellent clinicians.
Candidates should have:
- A master's degree in counseling or a qualifying related field, or an anticipated qualifying graduation date.
- Current Virginia Resident in Counseling status or eligibility to obtain it before beginning clinical work.
- An interest in individual outpatient mental health counseling.
- A willingness to participate actively in supervision and collaborative learning.
- The ability to work in person at our Locus Grove office.
Full-time candidates are preferred. Part-time opportunities may be considered based on availability.
You don't need to have all the answers. We value people who ask thoughtful questions, care deeply about their clients, and understand that becoming a great therapist is an ongoing process.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
Seasons Counseling, PLLC is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to any status protected by applicable law and provide reasonable accommodations during the application process upon request.
\nCompany DescriptionSeasons Counseling, PLLC — Virginia's Premier Teaching Group Practice
At Seasons Counseling, we believe the best therapists never stop learning. We also believe becoming a great therapist requires a team that supports both your professional development and your well-being.
Seasons Counseling is an outpatient mental health practice with four locations across Virginia:
Charlottesville, Culpeper, Warrenton, and Locust Grove. We provide individual mental health counseling to children, adolescents, and adults, offering thoughtful, evidence-based care.
At our core, what makes Seasons different is our commitment to teaching.
Our founder, Anne Luckinbill, began her career as an elementary school teacher before stepping away to raise her four children. Years later, she returned to school to pursue her passion for counseling, eventually opening her own practice and becoming a clinical supervisor.
Today, Anne is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and North Carolina, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist who trained with Dr. Sue Johnson, the founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy.
At Seasons, we take clinical education seriously and take pride in helping our residents develop into exceptional therapists. Our residents work through real cases, ask difficult questions, and learn from the experience of their supervisors and colleagues. We encourage curiosity, honest feedback, and the critical thinking that develops through experience and thoughtful mentorship.
What you can expect at Seasons:
- Clinical education that continues beyond graduate school. Our residents receive approximately 2.5 hours of combined individual and group supervision each week, including case discussions, clinical decision-making, documentation, and professional boundaries. Supervision is provided at no cost to our residents.
- Experienced mentors who are invested in you. Our supervisors are approachable, knowledgeable, and available when you need guidance. We want residents to feel comfortable asking questions, discussing difficult cases, and learning from mistakes.
- Room to grow at your own pace. We build caseloads gradually, giving new clinicians time to develop their confidence and skills. We recognize that people learn differently, and we want that growth to be both clinically responsible and sustainable.
- Colleagues who learn from one another. Some of the most valuable learning happens when therapists share their experiences. Our team regularly consults with one another, offering different perspectives and helping each other work through challenging cases.
- Support with the business side of practice. Our clinicians are W-2 employees, and Seasons handles client scheduling, administrative support, insurance-related administrative requirements, and billing. We also provide the malpractice coverage needed to practice and offer paid time off to eligible employees. We want our therapists to spend more of their time focused on clients and their clinical development.
- Options that fit different stages of life. We offer full-time positions and part-time opportunities where available. Whether you're pursuing a full-time residency or need a schedule that accommodates other responsibilities, we're open to discussing opportunities that support your professional goals. Our full-time residency model is designed to support progression toward licensure in approximately 24 months, depending on individual progress and Virginia Board requirements.
We're looking for compassionate, curious people who care deeply about their clients, welcome feedback, and take pride in their work. People who understand that becoming a great therapist takes time, practice, and a willingness to keep learning.
If you're serious about becoming the best therapist you can be, we'd love to meet you.
