The Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP) is an online system where companies select and hire interns from a large pool of pre-qualified college and university STEM students throughout Virginia. Student applications contain contact information, a writing sample, a resume, transcripts and two references. CSIIP provides a search tool companies can use to find the right candidates. Employers can search CSIIP’s database by STEM major, skills or distance from their company. Summer internships are usually 10 to 12 weeks long, 20 to 40 hours per week. Spring and fall internships may vary in duration and are typically more flexible with schedules. What you can expect in our program is an opportunity to complete a personal project. This project can be used to fulfill academic requirements, gain industry insight from career professionals, and gain new skills by assisting in the development of other MITS programs. Project Proposal: As part of the interview process, you are asked to submit a project plan to create a product or service leveraging any technology of your choice. The project explanation should provide a high-level overview of your idea and detail actionable goals, tasks, and overall outcomes. Your completed project plan should include the following: 500-word maximum explanation of project Maximum 3 project milestones Proposed timeline Primary materials needed Links undergraduate STEM students to companies offering paid STEM internship positions throughout Virginia.
