Position Summary Mechanical Engineer II – Onsite location in Tewksbury/Andover, MA. Requires U.S. citizenship and a DoD Secret clearance, which must be maintained from day one. Location Tewksbury, MA / Andover, MA – Onsite. Department Overview The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department handles the mechanical design, development, and integration of defense platform systems including radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects. Responsibilities Investigate and resolve change requests from manufacturing or suppliers. Develop rework or modification procedures to support product updates. Support the full product lifecycle from concept definition through detailed design, release to production, and post‑production support of Ground Based Defense Systems including effectors. Work closely with engineering disciplines, non‑technical functions, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges. Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to inform technical decisions. Manage tasks independently and ensure timely delivery of technical, schedule, and financial commitments. Mentor and support less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design or related area, or an advanced STEM degree. Experience spanning the full product lifecycle—from concept to production support. Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD, and in product data management systems. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical hardware design. Experience with military/commercial specifications and GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Proficient in ECAD processes and technical documentation. Experience with PDM (e.g., Windchill) and configuration/change management. Background in interconnects, cables, harnesses, material selection, and finishes. Strong communication, multitasking, teamwork skills, and willingness to travel. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related hardware systems field. Experience in electronic packaging design (subsystems, modules, CCA, PWBs, interconnects for RF/digital/power). Experience in fabrication and integration of electronic assemblies, racks, and PDUs. Knowledge of ECAD processes, Creo CAD, and technical documentation. Experience with Windchill PDM (or similar) and configuration/change management. Background in interconnects, cables, harnesses, material selection, and finishes. Benefits Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD.
