CVOR Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services CVOR Technician provides specialized perioperative support in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, assisting with a high volume of complex surgical cases including cardiothoracic, general, and minimally invasive procedures. This role requires expertise in surgical instrumentation, flexible endoscope reprocessing, and the ability to float to general OR cases. The CVOR Tech collaborates closely with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center environment. A minimum of one year of relevant experience and required certifications are essential, along with a commitment to fulfilling call and weekend shift requirements. Responsibilities:

• Perform singular scrub duties during cardiothoracic surgeries including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, VATS, mediastinoscopy, RATS, and carotid cutdowns.
• Assist in general, cardiovascular/thoracic, and laparoscopic surgical procedures; float to general OR cases as needed.
• Support surgical teams during minimally invasive valve surgeries and laser lead standby.
• Reprocess flexible endoscopes with preference given to bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Maintain surgical instrumentation and ensure readiness of surgical supplies.
• Adhere to facility protocols for sterile technique and patient safety.
• Participate in continuous learning and assist others in skill development.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid Washington State license.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a surgical technologist role, preferably in cardiothoracic or related specialties.
• Ability to scrub singularly for cardiothoracic cases and float to general OR.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Experience with OB/GYN, Plastic, ENT, Urology, Robotic, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Transplant surgeries.
• Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing, especially bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Experience working with adolescent patients.

Special Considerations:

• Must commit to at least 10 call shifts per month; call hours may occur between 17:00 and 06:30.
• Required to work 1-2 weekends per month.
• Shift hours are 06:30 to 17:00 for day shifts on a 4x10 schedule.
• Facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a high surgical case volume averaging 55 cases daily.
• Scrub color is flexible except reddish orange is not permitted.
• Local candidates are not accepted; pending licenses are considered.
• Must provide all requested Return to Office (RTO) information at time of submission.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of four 10-hour day shifts per week.
• Call shifts are mandatory, with a minimum of 10 call shifts monthly.
• Weekend work is required 1-2 times per month.
