Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Certified Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech) provides critical support in surgical services by preparing the operating room, assisting during surgical procedures, and ensuring sterile environments. This role involves collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and efficient patient care in an acute care hospital setting. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively during call shifts.

Responsibilities:

Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready.
Assist surgeons and surgical staff during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control protocols.
Manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, including setup and breakdown of the OR.
Ensure proper documentation and charting in the Mediteach system.
Participate in call rotations as required, responding promptly to surgical emergencies.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience working in an acute care hospital operating room environment.
Knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced settings.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Familiarity with Mediteach charting system.
Experience with a variety of surgical specialties.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Special Considerations:

Call frequency approximately 4-6 times in a 6-week period, including weekend coverage as part of the call schedule.
Adherence to hospital infection control and safety policies.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively during emergency surgical situations.

Scheduling:

Shift assignments include day and call shifts with weekend call responsibilities.
Call schedule is integrated into the 6-week rotation cycle.
Free parking available for staff.
