Registered Nurse- ICU

The Registered Nurse ICU is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. Operating under the indirect supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the technician plays a critical role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all instrumentation is properly sterilized and available for use in surgical and procedural areas. Key Responsibilities Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using approved techniques and solutions. Inspect and assemble instrument trays according to surgical procedure requirements. Package and label trays and equipment for sterilization. Operate sterilizers (steam, gas, or other) and monitor sterilization cycles for compliance. Document sterilization processes and equipment maintenance according to department protocols and regulatory standards. Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and instruments; report shortages or equipment malfunctions. Transport sterilized instruments and supplies to the appropriate departments within the facility. Adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols at all times. Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 year of experience as a Central Sterile Processing Technician. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, surgical instruments, and infection control procedures. Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a hospital or surgical services environment. Familiarity with electronic tracking systems for instrument processing.
