Transport Nurse Specialist

Overview JOB SUMMARY We are seeking an experienced Transport Nurse Specialist (TNS) to provide critical care during inter-hospital transport for both pediatric and adult patients. This role requires strong ICU/ER expertise, advanced critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently in high-acuity situations. Responsibilities Deliver critical care assessment, stabilization, and treatment during patient transport. Manage ventilators, emergency medications, and critically ill patients in transit. Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrate leadership, clinical expertise, and effective communication in emergency situations. Required Qualifications Must reside within 50 miles of the facility. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Active and unrestricted DC RN License. Minimum 2–3 years of recent ICU, ER, or Critical Care Transport experience. Experience in high-volume tertiary care or trauma settings preferred. Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in air or land critical care transport in the DC area. Advanced certifications such as CEN, CCRN, CCRN, or CFRN.
