Lucky's Malibu is seeking dependable, hardworking, and motivated individuals to join our Back-of-House team. We are hiring for multiple kitchen positions and are looking for team members who take pride in their work, maintain high standards of cleanliness and food quality, and contribute to a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.

Whether preparing ingredients before service, cooking on the line, creating desserts, or maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, every member of our team plays an essential role in delivering an exceptional dining experience.

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate consistency, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

Current Opportunities: AM Prep Cook

Our Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing ingredients that set the foundation for every service. This position requires exceptional organization, consistency, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing vegetables, sauces, stocks, proteins, and other ingredients according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
• Assisting with daily production lists and kitchen organization.
• Maintaining clean, organized prep stations and storage areas.
• Properly labeling, rotating, and storing products using FIFO procedures.
• Supporting inventory organization and minimizing waste.

Line Cook (AM & PM Shifts Available)

Our Line Cooks are responsible for executing consistently high-quality food while maintaining speed, accuracy, and organization during service.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and cooking menu items according to restaurant recipes and presentation standards.
• Maintaining station organization and cleanliness throughout each shift.
• Following proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature control procedures.
• Communicating effectively with fellow cooks and management during service.
• Assisting with station setup, breakdown, and daily cleaning responsibilities.

Pastry Cook (AM & PM Shifts Available)

Our Pastry Cooks prepare desserts and baked items with consistency, precision, and attention to presentation.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing desserts and pastry items according to established recipes.
• Maintaining quality, freshness, and consistency of all products.
• Keeping pastry work areas organized and sanitary.
• Managing production schedules and product rotation.
• Assisting with inventory and ingredient preparation as needed.

Dishwasher / Steward

Our Dishwashers are vital members of the kitchen team and help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Washing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of dishwashing and storage areas.
• Removing trash and recycling as needed.
• Assisting with general kitchen cleaning duties.
• Supporting kitchen staff by ensuring equipment and service ware remain available throughout service.

Food Safety & Workplace Standards

All Back-of-House employees are expected to maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and professionalism.

Responsibilities include:

• Following all restaurant recipes, food preparation standards, and quality expectations.
• Maintaining clean and organized workstations throughout each shift.
• Properly storing, labeling, rotating, and handling food products.
• Completing assigned opening, service, and closing cleaning responsibilities.
• Following all applicable Los Angeles County Department of Public Health regulations and California food safety requirements.
• Promptly reporting equipment concerns, food safety issues, or workplace hazards to management.

Language Requirement

Professional fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

Because our kitchen operates in a fast-paced commercial environment involving hot equipment, open flames, sharp knives, wet floors, heavy lifting, and cleaning chemicals, all Back-of-House employees must be able to communicate effectively with both management and fellow team members in English and Spanish.

Clear communication is essential to:

• Understand and follow safety instructions.
• Prevent workplace injuries.
• Communicate hazards or emergencies.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Receive coaching, training, and operational direction.
• Maintain efficient kitchen operations.

The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is considered an essential function of these positions.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant experience is preferred; experience requirements vary by position.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require (where applicable).
• California Food Handler Card required before employment or within the timeframe permitted by law.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, depending on the position.
• Ability to safely work in a commercial kitchen environment with exposure to hot surfaces, steam, sharp equipment, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, and varying temperatures.
