Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Job Description

AWARD-WINNING. MEANINGFUL WORK. A BUILDING THAT'S BEEN HOME TO JACKSON COUNTY FOR OVER 185 YEARS.

Maintenance Technician — Full-Time | 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM | Valid Michigan Chauffeur's License Required

This isn't just a maintenance job. It's a place with a 185-year story — and we want you to be a part of it.

Jackson County Medical Care Facility has been serving Jackson County for over 185 years. We are a 194-bed, county-owned skilled nursing facility with a simple mission: You are why we're here. The people we interact with every day — our residents, their families, and our CarePartners — are why we exist. A legacy is only as strong as the stories behind it. And we mean that: Let's continue your story together!

A well-maintained, safe, and comfortable building is an act of care — and the Maintenance Technician is on the front line of that every single shift. In this role, you will also serve as a resident transport driver, safely transporting residents to medical appointments in our wheelchair van and bus. You are often the first and last face a resident sees on one of their most important days. The way you show up matters.

We have been named one of America's Best Nursing Homes by Newsweek five years running, ranking in the top 20 in Michigan each year. We have also earned a U.S. News Best Nursing Homes 2025 designation and an AHCA Bronze Quality Award in 2023 & 2026.

Our residents say it best:
"Staff evolved into friends." — Susan
"Can't imagine getting better care anywhere else." — Neil
"I wouldn't recommend anywhere else — this place is the best!" — David

Our Core Values

At JCMCF, our core values aren't posted on a wall and forgotten. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who takes pride in the environment they create and understands that the work they do every day directly shapes the lives of the people who call this place home.

• Create a Positive Environment — We greet, encourage, and show up for one another every day.
• Elevate Growth — We welcome change, recognize achievement, and invest in goals.
• Bring Joy! — We celebrate, laugh, and make it our mission to be the reason someone smiles today.
• Cultivate Comfort — We build a place that feels like home, where lasting relationships are the norm, not the exception.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician at JCMCF, you will work as part of a four-person maintenance team under the direction of the Maintenance Director to keep our 98,700 square foot facility safe, functional, and well-maintained. You will respond to work orders, support preventive maintenance programs, and troubleshoot issues across building systems. This role also includes transporting residents to and from medical appointments in our wheelchair van and bus — making you a trusted face for residents both inside and outside the building.
