Responsibilities Job Summary The Clinical Research Nurse’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics in addition to the Clinical Research Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. The CRN serves as a coordinator, clinical nurse, educator, consultant, and leader in clinical research. Applying experience and knowledge, the CRN executes complex research protocols within the clinical setting, interacting daily with physicians, nurse practitioners, management, staff, patients, and families to promote clinical expertise, patient safety, resource utilization and adherence to regulations for research. Key duties include: Coordinating clinical trial procedures, utilizing evidence‑based nursing practice and expertise to develop and coordinate a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial and social needs of patients and their families. Partnering with the patient and care team members to manage complex physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual symptoms; using advanced assessment skills to identify problems and develop a comprehensive, individualized plan of care. Providing comprehensive care based on the principles of growth and development across the lifespan of patients served, following HonorHealth patient care policies and procedures as well as unit‑specific departmental operating policies. Supporting efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills by enhancing knowledge in the nursing management and care of patient problems and conditions, and by improving the patient experience and clinical outcomes while promoting a healthy work environment. Applying the nursing process to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise family‑centered, developmentally and age‑appropriate, culturally relevant plans of care. Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and monitor treatment plans, including coordination of side‑effect management and status monitoring. Acting as a clinical liaison for interdisciplinary or consulted care, monitoring treatment of side effects, and providing clinical direction, coordination and execution of research projects. Ensuring compliance with Code of Federal Regulations and ICH Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice, federal, state, local, protocol and institutional requirements to maintain data integrity. Assisting with recruitment and enrollment of patients to clinical trials and evaluating subject suitability for inclusion in studies. Managing patient and/or family phone calls, collaborating with physicians or nurse practitioners as needed to obtain orders for patient management (telephone triage). Providing patient and family education and support. Participating in professional growth to maintain evidence‑based clinical practice and keep current knowledge of nursing practice. Evaluating nursing practice against professional standards and relevant statutes, regulations, and system policies, and systematically evaluating quality and effectiveness. Collaborating with peers and other health care providers through positive role‑modeling, fostering peer relationships, and participating in preceptor and mentor programs. Developing and evaluating evidence‑based standards of care for patients, identifying changes that should be made, and using research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes. Considering safety, effectiveness, and cost factors in planning and delivering patient care by utilizing resources effectively and efficiently. Essential Functions In addition to the responsibilities above, the following functions are essential: Collect health data systematically and prioritize collection based on patient condition or needs, involving the family. Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop nursing diagnoses to guide care planning. Monitor care and progress of patients, providing expertise in the management of adverse events, study amendments, and study closures. Document research activities to meet all regulatory and institutional requirements. Coordinate with clinic departments, educate staff, provide resources, and manage project budgets. Integrate ethical principles into all aspects of practice and enhance knowledge of culture and diversity needs for specific populations. Education Associate’s Degree: Associate degree nurse must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire date OR have 10 years of Registered Nurse experience (direct or indirect). Required Bachelor’s Degree: BSN - Required Experience At least 10 months of clinical research experience OR at least 10 months of clinical nursing experience – Required Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required Registered Nurse (RN) state and/or compact state licensure – upon hire - Required ACLS/NALS – required as appropriate for assigned unit – upon hire - Required Competencies applicable to clinical setting (e.g., chemo, stroke) – 1 year – Required #J-18808-Ljbffr
