JOB TITLE: Director of Information Services - Institutional Advancement and UW FoundationJOB PURPOSE: The Director of Information Services at the University of Wyoming Foundation serves as a strategic technology leader responsible for modernizing enterprise systems, enabling data-informed decision making, leading organizational technology transformation, and ensuring the secure, reliable operation of Foundation information services.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Strategy:Provide strategic leadership and direction for the UW Foundation Information Services department. Develop and implement long-term technology strategies aligned with Foundation and University goals. Lead enterprise planning for information systems, software development, cybersecurity, data governance, infrastructure, and technical operations.Lead enterprise technology transformation initiatives, including major platform implementations and organizational change efforts. Develop change management, communication, adoption, and training strategies that ensure successful implementation and user adoption of new technologies.Represent Information Services in leadership meetings, strategic planning efforts, and institutional initiatives. Communicate complex technical concepts, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership, boards, and nontechnical stakeholders in clear business terms.Build strong partnerships with Foundation departments to understand operational needs, prioritize technology investments, and translate business objectives into technology solutions.Cybersecurity:Provide organizational leadership for cybersecurity governance, information security oversight, and technology risk management. Develop, implement, and maintain organizational policies, standards, procedures, and governance practices related to cybersecurity, privacy, and information protection. Lead organizational cybersecurity risk assessment, vulnerability mitigation, security awareness initiatives, and incident response coordination. Coordinate security reviews, compliance efforts, and operational safeguards with UWIT, vendors, auditors, and external partners. Evaluate and recommend security technologies, operational controls, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies. Support organizational compliance with applicable regulatory, contractual, and institutional information protection requirements.Oversee privacy and information protection practices related to institutional information assets and third-party data access. Campus IT Collaboration:Collaborate with University Information Technology and other campus partners to coordinate infrastructure services, enterprise technology initiatives, system lifecycle management, and operational support.Lead efforts to upgrade servers and applications, such as the digital document storage system, through effective communication and coordination.Project Management:Guide, monitor, and manage large, complex multi-year projects, engaging stakeholders that may include university and foundation leadership, as well as other campus users.Team Leadership and Development:Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing hybrid workforce by establishing a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and exceptional customer service across remote and in-office employees.Establish project priorities and coordinate operational workloads across multiple functional areas and competing deadlines. Establish measurable performance metrics, project milestones, and service-level expectations. Monitor progress, remove barriers, and ensure timely delivery of strategic initiatives.Promote a collaborative, customer-focused work environment emphasizing operational excellence, governance maturity, and continuous improvement. Ensure sufficient cross-training, operational documentation, and continuity planning across enterprise systems and technology operations. Direct administrative operations for the Information Services department. Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, technology expenditures, software licensing, vendor contracts, and resource allocation. Evaluate operational needs and develop business cases supporting staffing, infrastructure, and technology investments. Coordinate procurement activities and manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers. Lead strategic relationships with software vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and managed service providers, ensuring accountability, contract performance, and successful project delivery.Ensure compliance with institutional policies, audit requirements, and operational controls.Budget Management:Direct administrative operations for the Information Services department. Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, technology expenditures, software licensing, vendor contracts, and resource allocation. Process Improvement and Database Integrity:Provide executive leadership for enterprise CRM strategy, including system evaluation, vendor selection, implementation, integration, data migration, user adoption, and ongoing optimization.Lead cross-functional business process analysis and redesign efforts to align technology capabilities with organizational needs and improve operational effectiveness.Lead efforts to research and identify new ways to enhance and enrich the donor and alumni database, ensuring it remains a valuable resource for the Foundation’s mission.Application Management:Support a portfolio of 30+ applications used across the foundation, ensuring they are properly secured and functioning as expected.Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify application requirements, implement solutions, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance.Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise software development, system integrations, reporting operations, and technical architecture. Guide development of automated integrations, workflows, reporting systems, and enterprise applications supporting Foundation operations. Oversee customization, configuration, and optimization of Foundation information systems.Partner with Advancement leadership to establish enterprise data governance standards, ensuring data quality, ownership, stewardship, and consistency across institutional systems.COMPETENCIES: Service OrientationCollaborationDelegating ResponsibilityDeveloping Organizational TalentWork Prioritization & ManagementJudgmentTechnical/Professional KnowledgeInnovationIndividual LeadershipMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education/experience or equivalent experienceEXPERIENCE: 7-10 years of work-related experience to include supervisory experienceLICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Experience managing enterprise application portfolios. Experience supervising multidisciplinary technical teams. Experience developing technology strategy and budgets. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience customizing and maintaining a relationship management databases (CRMs) and the governance of sensitive data.Demonstrated experience leading large-scale enterprise software implementations, integrations, or system migrations using formal project and change management methodologies.Experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, or other complex mission-driven organizations. Knowledge of systems or processes involving fundraising, advancement, or donor management.Experience managing hybrid or geographically distributed teams. Experience EvaluationMinimum experience requirements are evaluated on a full-time equivalent (FTE) basis. Relevant part-time experience will be prorated based on hours worked. For example, two years working an average of 20 hours per week is equivalent to approximately one year of full-time experience.
