Behavior Assistant Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Requirements for Hire: Level I IVP Fingerprint Card Job Overview The Behavior Assistant provides direct behavioral and emotional support to primary school students grades K-2. The core mission is to help students manage challenging behaviors, develop positive social-emotional skills, and successfully access their learning environment. Operating under the direct supervision of the School Principal and in collaboration with classroom teachers and Special Education staff, this role is essential for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and productive learning community. Key Responsibilities Implement individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) Provide physical and verbal de-escalation during behavioral crises Run 1:1 and small group interventions, delivering direct instruction on replacement behaviors and social-emotional skills Support daily transitions, guiding assigned students safely through transitions Build positive, trusting, supportive relationships with students Prepare visual aids: token boards, visual schedules, and emotional-regulation tools under teacher guidance Probationary Period There is a 90‑day probationary period. At the end of that time, the employee is evaluated by supervisors. A favorable evaluation allows continued employment; an unfavorable evaluation results in termination.
