Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws on a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Prepare and process specimens accurately, adhering to established procedures for labeling, handling, and documentation.
• Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling directly in the presence of the patient, maintaining strict chain-of-custody and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all collections and ensure compliance with confidentiality and safety protocols.
• Provide exceptional customer service by communicating procedures clearly, addressing patient concerns, and creating a positive, trust-filled environment.
• Perform specimen processing duties as required, supporting laboratory operations to ensure timely testing and results delivery.
• Adhere to all safety policies, dress code, and regulatory requirements, promoting a professional and safe environment at all times.
• Work independently and collaboratively across multiple locations, demonstrating flexibility to meet staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary.

  Required Skills:

• Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Certified in phlebotomy (preferred but not mandatory; certification required in certain states).
• Exceptional venipuncture skills with a focus on safety, accuracy, and patient comfort.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in specimen handling and documentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills to foster positive patient interactions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Keyboard/data entry proficiency to ensure accurate data management.

  Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in a Patient Service Center environment.
• Medical assistant or paramedic training.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Flexibility to travel between multiple locations and adapt to varying schedules.

  Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three or more years of professional phlebotomy experience, especially in diverse patient populations.
• Training as a medical assistant or paramedic is a plus.

  Other Requirements:

• Must hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and a clean driving record (if travel is required).
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts based on staffing needs.
• Physical ability to handle specimen collection and processing tasks, including standing for extended periods.
• Current phlebotomy certification is preferred; certification is mandatory in certain states.
