Automatic Machine Operator Location: US-IL-Mascoutah # Positions: 5 Category: Manufacturing Position Description At a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Automatic Machine Operator to join the Electrica Wiring Systems (Cablofil) Team in Mascoutah, IL . Conductor-In-Training are responsible for learning the operation of the Wire Mesh Welding Machine. What Will You Do? Job Duties Use wire feed welder to weld broken tray. Use multimeters to help troubleshoot electrical systems on all production machines. Use grinders, drills, and other hand‑held tools to maintain and modify production line. Use measuring tools: micro motor, calipers, ruler, and scales. Assist with setting up operations for the day and ensure machines are ready for operation. Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety policies and practices. Review production schedules and ensure correct size tray is produced within standards, properly packaged, and loaded on trucks. Ensure production line is safe, clean and in good working condition. Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Ensure tools are in place. Assist with changeovers. Modify existing programs as needed to ensure quality of end product. Perform hourly inspections, quality checks, and inspect tray. Complete daily & weekly paperwork (daily report, monthly tracking, TRS board). Keep supervisors informed of machine problems such as breakdowns or bad wire & spare parts inventory. Practice continuous improvement by participating in meetings and workshops. Adjust settings in the set‑up and control of production equipment in accordance with applicable procedures and instructions. Perform both mechanical and electrical machine maintenance activities. Additional responsibilities may arise through the development of the above listed items. Qualifications Required Skills Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Able to stand for at least 8 hours per day. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures. Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job. Must be able to access all areas of the workspace, including confined spaces within machinery. Must be able to operate effectively within a 13" x 2.5' space to perform machinery maintenance. Must be able to climb ladder to perform machine operation and maintenance. This role involves positioning oneself in cramped or low spaces to perform repairs, including bending, crouching, and crawling for extended periods. This position requires working within a cramped/low space with dimensions for machinery maintenance and inspection. The employee must be able to repeatedly enter, maneuver within, and exit a space measuring 13.5" x 2.5'. Preferred Qualifications Four years of experience with mechanical equipment & general manufacturing experience. Mechanical aptitude. Experience in use of measuring gauges. Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic valves, cylinders, pumps, motors and motor controls, variable frequency drives, contactors, breakers and PLC controls.
