Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview Freedom Behavioral is providing services to adult civil commitment psychiatric patients in Bunkie, LA. The role is for a registered nurse to lead nursing care in a 60‑bed facility, ensuring quality and compliance. Shift Schedule Day Shift (7 A‑7 P) and Night Shift (7 P‑7 A). Responsibilities Coordinate day‑to‑day patient care activities for the unit. Maintain standards of professional nursing practice per TJC, federal, and state regulations. Provide direct patient care within the scope of RN license. Serve as Charge Nurse as assigned, overseeing ancillary staff. Communicate with the Director of Nursing on nursing care issues. Participate in performance improvement; complete chart monitoring. Coordinate nursing care to patients, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Communicate patient issues to medical staff. Perform patient care assessments timely and accurately. Document findings accurately in the medical record. Complete all admission paperwork and daily documentation. Adhere to Human Resources policies and attendance expectations. Follow infection control and employee health guidelines. Act as a member of the facility leadership team. Participate in treatment team meetings, communicating patient goals, interventions, and assessments. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Registered Nursing license in the state of Louisiana. Minimum of one year experience in mental health, preferably adult dual diagnosis.
