The RPACS Western Region Post-Permanency Supervisor will provide supportive services to families after the finalization of adoption to strengthen and maintain adoptive placements and prevent adoption disruption and dissolution. DePaul, in partnership with subcontractor Commonwealth Catholic Charities, offers a wide range of free support services to children and families once the goal of permanency is achieved. The ideal candidate for this program must understand the unique dynamics and challenges of families formed by adoption and kinship legal guardianship, and then tailor support to the current needs of each family. Primary activities and responsibilities may include referrals and resource sharing, education, and training for families, planning and facilitating fun family activities, planning and leadership of parent and youth discussion groups, and connecting families to adoption competent clinical services. This position provides support and crisis intervention when evolving family circumstances threaten permanency stability.
The RPACS Western Region Post-Permanency Supervisor is a full time supervisor position will assist the Regional Coordinator and Director of Adoption with tasks as outlined below. This position will also provide direct supervision and guidance to direct client service staff for DePaul's post-permanency services in designated regions of the state. The Western Region supervisor is responsible for delivering ongoing, meaningful support to direct service professionals in adoption, steering collaborative community efforts to enhance support for adoptive and post-permanency families, and attending to program integrity concerning grant targets, documentation requirements, best practices, quality, and safety. This role facilitates professional growth and development for adoption specialists, meets specified goals and objectives in grant-funded programs, reports program outcomes to funders, and collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders to continually enhance program and agency efforts. DePaul relies on the regional Post-Permanency Supervisor and other program supervisors for extensive knowledge of adoption and post-permanency policies and procedures, as well as reinforcement of adoption competency both within programs and across the agency.
This position is fully funded by a grant from the Virginia Department of Social Services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
The Post-Permanency Supervisor will report directly to the Regional Coordinator.
The Post-Permanency Supervisor will supervise direct client service staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Oversee and direct the work of adoption and post-permanency specialists through team meetings, individual supervision, and regular electronic file review, providing meaningful professional support and guidance to ensure compliance with documentation requirements, ethical standards, reporting requirements, agency policies, and grant guidelines.
- Facilitate comprehensive onboarding/training for new staff and monitor ongoing team member training to nurture professional growth, strengthen adoption and post-permanency competency, and ensure compliance regarding program policies and procedures, grant targets, minimum standards, code of Virginia, personnel policies and procedures, and social work best practices.
- Provide intake and processing of referrals for services
- Monitor waitlist for services and coordinate with regional coordinator or other assigned staff about case assignments
- Process and distribute online program documents (release of information forms, adoption service agreements, VDSS data sharing forms)
- Assist with coordination, planning, and leading grant-related meetings both internally and externally
- Assist with the coordination and planning of grant-related special events
- Provide mentoring for peers as needed including training for staff
- Assist with ongoing review of grant-related data (reports and spreadsheets)
- Assist with maintaining and upkeep of the team folder in SharePoint
- Fill in for regional coordinator or program director at meetings as needed
- Assist with case coverage for staff in their absence or during vacancies
- Complete other duties as assigned

A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field with three years of experience providing casework services to children and families is required. Supervisory experience preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described herein represent those an employee encounters while performing the position's essential functions. The employee regularly works in an office environment and occasionally in the field. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent may be exposed to situations of a highly emotional nature; incumbents are expected to use verbal skills to resolve interpersonal situations to achieve desired results independently. Incumbents are exposed to various living situations and lifestyles. Work is generally completed regularly during weekdays; however, daily work hours may vary. Participation in and completion of job duties outside of normally scheduled hours may be required. Work is subject to frequent interruptions, and noise levels are varied based on the work locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee in this position must meet, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the essential functions successfully. Physical activities required are finger dexterity necessary to operate equipment used in the position, effective communication and seeing or hearing verbal cues. Walking from one-third to two-thirds of the time, sitting from one-third to two-thirds of the time, standing from one-third to two-thirds of the time, bending from one-third to two-thirds of the time, stooping up to one-third of the time, lifting/pushing/pulling no more than twenty pounds is required. When accessing various locations, the incumbent must climb stairs and ramps. This position requires driving approximately fifteen percent of the employee's working time to various locations. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
After a conditional job offer, the following may be required: current DMV driving record with results that comply with insurer guidelines; drug and alcohol screening with satisfactory results stipulated by applicable governing, funding, or regulatory agencies; criminal and child protective services background report. The applicant shall not have been convicted of any barrier crime(s) on the criminal background report.
