Responsibilities Demonstrates technical and operational expertisePerforms testing and test procedures according to established policies and guidelinesInterprets quality control results and instrument functionCompletes scheduled preventive maintenance duties Provides assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks and works with vendors as appropriateCollects blood specimens, etc. from laboratory outpatientsParticipates in Quality Assurance (QA) and Resource ManagementAssists and completes investigations involving unexpected or adverse outcomes and keeps documentation according to regulatory guidelinesOrganizes and adapts to changes in workflow due to instrumentation or computer downtimesProvides solutions and technical support to aid in delivery of patient careAssures patient care in unusual conditions/conflicts is not compromisedAssists and monitors necessary supplies and kit availability for patient testingResponsible for following manufacturer’s recommended instructions for utilizing testing material and kits as well as assists with reagent orders from vendorsTechnical and Teaching Assistance Participates in the bench instruction of Clinical Laboratory Scientist students, phlebotomy students, nurses and clinic staffProvides operational training for coworkers involving manual, automated, and organizational skills for patient testingProvides knowledge acquired thru experience and training to assist new hires and current coworkersPractices good communication skills with internal and external customersCommunicates hand-off details to coworkers at shift changeMaintains composure and professionalism involving conflicts with internal and external customers Qualifications Baccalaureate degree with major in Medical Technology or related science required.Less than one yearCertified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by Board of Registry of ASCP or equivalent due upon hire or within 1 year from date of hire.Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity.Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.Customer/patient focused.
