**Job Description:**Capstone is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to drive new client acquisition for our Capstone Solutions practice. This role is focused exclusively on identifying, targeting, and converting corporate clients who can benefit from Capstone’s government relations advisory and policy intelligence capabilities.Capstone Solutions practice provides senior, client-facing advisory services to companies navigating complex legislative and regulatory environments. Sitting at the intersection of policy, politics, and business, the practice helps corporate clients assess risk, develop government relations strategies, and respond to evolving public policy dynamics. The VP of Business Development will be the commercial engine behind growing this practice introducing Capstone’s capabilities to prospective clients, building relationships with senior decision-makers, and closing new business.Capstone is a leading policy analysis and regulatory due diligence firm with locations in Washington, DC, Houston, New York, Paris, London, Brussels, and Mumbai. We advise institutional investors and corporations on how changes in state, federal, and international policy will impact investments and business strategy. Capstone leads coverage of public policy developments affecting financial and business services, energy and environment, healthcare, TMT, and more. Our professionals analyze policy to uncover risks, opportunities, and unique strategies for our clients. We live at the nexus of policy and investments.**Key Responsibilities*** **Lead Generation & Prospecting:**Identify and engage prospective corporate clients across sectors including financial services, energy, healthcare, TMT, and beyond who face meaningful legislative or regulatory risk and would benefit from our Capstone Solutions offering.* **Sales Execution:**Clearly articulate Capstone’s value proposition to senior corporate executives and public affairs leaders. Build trust quickly and move prospects through the funnel to close new business.* **Market & Policy Awareness:**Maintain a working understanding of key policy and regulatory trends to tailor outreach, position Capstone’s capabilities credibly, and engage meaningfully with prospective clients.* **Collaboration & Handoff:**Partner closely with the Capstone Solutions advisory team to ensure seamless transitions once new clients are onboarded.* **CRM & Reporting:**Maintain accurate pipeline tracking using CRM tools and provide regular reporting on business development activity, progress, and performance.* **External Engagement:**Represent Capstone at industry conferences, corporate events, and senior-level meetings to build brand visibility and generate qualified leads within the corporate community.**Qualifications**Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:* Strong commercial instincts with a demonstrated ability to originate new client relationships and close deals* Familiarity with the corporate government relations, public affairs, or policy consulting landscape* Executive presence and exceptional communication skills — able to engage credibly with C-suite and senior public affairs executives* A clear, persuasive communicator who can translate complex policy and advisory offerings into compelling value propositions* Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage a robust pipeline* Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in the intersection of policy, politics, and business**Education and Experience Requirements*** Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree a plus* Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, consulting, public affairs, or related fields* Proven track record of client origination and new business development, ideally within professional services or a policy/advisory environment* Experience selling into corporate public affairs, legal, regulatory, or strategy functions is strongly preferred* Familiarity with government relations, regulatory affairs, or policy consulting is a meaningful advantage* Strong MS Office skills; familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)We are an equal opportunity employer.
