Job Description - Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Ortho/Neuro (SAD007398) Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse Department: Neurosciences and Orthopedics Pay Range: $32.19/hr to $46.68/hr Self‑scheduling system with counterparts Signing bonus: $5,000 available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements. Position Summary This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. Responsibilities Collects data and uses scope of practice to appropriately deliver interventions and when necessary to escalate to the RN or MD (Utilizes Chain of Command). Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective critical thinking skills. Demonstrates accountability in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum with progress toward meeting desired patient outcomes. Collaborates with licensed and unlicensed personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation. Follows a teaching plan and evaluates effectiveness of learning in collaboration with the RN; family is included in the teaching plan as necessary. Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies. Identifies, develops and implements an action plan for self‑development and professional growth. Identifies subtle as well as obvious patient problems and reports to an appropriate resource person considering multidisciplinary team members and/or Chain of Command. Addresses the age specific needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion to maintain good relations with others. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Qualities and Training Placement in the pay range is based on factors such as relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications Experience One year of experience in an Acute Care, Long Term Care, or Skilled Nursing Facility setting preferred. Active California Board of Vocation Nurse License; LVN License required. American Heart Association BLS required. Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal (IVBW) Certification on LVN license required.
