We are looking for a dependable Bookkeeper Assistant to support daily accounting operations for a construction-related business in California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping financial records accurate, managing payable activity, and contributing to timely month-end reporting. The role offers the chance to work across multiple entities while helping the accounting team stay organized and on schedule. Responsibilities: • Handle invoice processing and maintain accounts payable records for multiple related business entities with a high level of accuracy. • Track purchase orders, verify supporting documentation, and ensure expenses are properly matched before payment is issued. • Reconcile company credit card activity and investigate discrepancies to keep financial records current and complete. • Conduct recurring audit reviews, including weekly purchase audits and monthly statement checks, and submit findings within established deadlines. • Assist with month-end accounting activities by confirming payable and purchasing transactions are fully captured and ready for close. • Prepare recurring financial and operational reports, including profit and loss summaries and other scheduled reporting for internal review. • Support the accounting team with bookkeeping tasks, bank reconciliations, and general record maintenance as needed. • Learn company-specific accounting tools and follow internal procedures to maintain consistency across workflows.• At least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, or a closely related accounting support role. • Practical knowledge of purchase order matching, credit card reconciliation, and transaction review processes. • Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software, with the ability to adapt to new systems quickly. • Working skills in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel abilities for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting. • Experience supporting recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail. • Familiarity with accounts receivable and bank reconciliations is helpful for broader bookkeeping support. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage financial information across multiple entities accurately.
