Certified Behavior Technician

We are looking for Certified Behavior Technicians (CBT) to support students with behavioral, social-emotional, and learning needs within the school environment! Working under the supervision of a teacher, special education staff, and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the CBT helps implement behavior intervention strategies, reinforce positive behaviors, and assist students in accessing their educational program.

This role is commonly assigned to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), requiring structured behavioral support.

Key Responsibilities

Behavioral Suppor t

• Implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher and/or BCBA

• Respond to and de-escalate challenging behaviors using approved strategies

• Reinforce positive behavior and social-emotional skills

• Support students with emotional regulation and coping techniques

• Maintain safety of students and staff during behavioral incidents

Instructional Support

• Assist with teacher-directed educational activities, including: small group instruction, reinforcement systems, and academic tasks

• Support implementation of IEP goals across academic and behavioral domains

• Facilitate peer interactions and promote appropriate socialization

Data Collection & Reporting

• Collect and document behavioral and academic data to track student progress

• Communicate observations and progress to teachers and support staff

• Assist with incident reporting and documentation as required

Student Support & Supervision

• Provide one-on-one or small group support throughout the school day

• Assist during transitions, recess, lunch, and community-based activities

• Support students with daily living skills (e.g., hygiene, feeding, toileting) as needed

• Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with teachers, BCBAs, related service providers, and administrators

• Follow guidance from educational and clinical staff regarding behavioral programming

• Participate in meetings and training sessions as required

Administrative & Compliance Duties

• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information at all times

• Assist with classroom preparation (materials, copies, organization)

• Follow school policies, procedures, and safety protocols
