Date Posted: 8/20/2026 Location: WEST INFORMATION SERVICES Date Available: 26-27 School Year Closing Date: 09/11/2026 REPORTS TO Director of IT Services Management POSITION OBJECTIVE The job of Computer Technician is to support all stakeholders using technology hardware and online digital resources to support classroom instruction and to assist the Department/Director of IT Services Management in the operation, setup, troubleshooting and routine maintenance of computer hardware, tablets, software, online digital resources, IP video, data network, media systems, telephone system, and other related equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a job-related area preferred or equivalent certification(s) and experience. CompTIA or equivalent A+ technical certification(s) preferred Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment. REQUIRED SKILLS Adhere to safety and security practices in all job-related activities Skilled in planning and managing projects efficiently Capable of gathering information to diagnose and resolve problems Proficient in performing basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios Able to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and facilitate group discussions Strong problem-solving skills to resolve practical issues Knowledgeable in current generation and legacy computer operating and networking systems Proficient in computer hardware/network troubleshooting techniques Skilled in network security protocols and procedures Familiar with office application software Understanding of board policies, district, state, and federal regulations/laws Ability to schedule activities and meetings effectively Skilled in gathering, collating, and classifying data Proficient in using job-related equipment Flexible in working with others across a variety of circumstances Ability to work with data using defined and similar processes Able to operate equipment using a variety of defined methods Capable of working with a diverse range of individuals and data types Strong ability to identify issues and create action plans Ability to independently interpret data guidelines for problem-solving Moderate problem-solving ability with equipment Skilled in developing effective working relationships Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with individuals of diverse technical knowledge and skills Capable of providing clear instructions and setting priorities in various tasks and projects PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Support & Systems Maintenance Assists staff and students with assessing and resolving hardware and software issues, including hardware setup and configuration and installation of district software. Utilizes the district help-desk ticketing system to log, respond to, and resolve staff and student technology issues. Collaborates with the technology team to resolve system-level issues, including Internet outages, wireless access point issues, and district phone issues. Assists with technology asset management for student devices using Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems. Assists with school break maintenance projects, including reimaging devices, setting up new devices, and completing building technology projects. Terminates, tests, and troubleshoots copper and fiber infrastructure to ensure reliable delivery of data, voice, and video services. Supports online and computer-based testing during annual school-wide assessment events. Technology Security, Compliance & Application Management Adheres to and exercises district policies regarding computer use and data access to ensure compliance with district policies and departmental guidelines. Preserves district-wide Internet safety and cybersecurity practices and communicates and trains staff on applicable practices. Researches software applications and recommends standardized applications aligned with district technology goals. Participates in technology long-range planning with the Technology Department. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective functioning of the Technology Service Center. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 260 day position WORKING CONDITIONS The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
