Equipment Operator

IGE is a rapidly growing construction organization that focuses on excavation along with sewer and water utility installation. Successful candidates will have opportunities to grow professionally within the many divisions of the company.

Summary

Heavy Equipment Operator works on job sites utilizing grader, loader, excavator, roller, dozer, haul truck, skid steer, and any other types of Heavy Equipment that are required for the project excavation process.

Duties include:

• Safely driving and operating heavy equipment
• Inspect equipment to ensure all is in working condition including; tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water and fluid levels
• Ability to follow directions and instructions
• Knowledge of operation and uses of each type of heavy equipment

Required for consideration

• Able to travel
• Clean driving record
• Experience and one to three years training as heavy equipment operator
• Experience in forestry industry or farming and/or operation of heavy equipment will also be considered.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Related experience in industries such as forestry, farming, or operation of heavy equipment will also be considered.

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with other team members.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Proficiency in performing these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

• Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Aptitude for dealing with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Current Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if operating road equipment that requires such.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and operate with legs and feet.
• Occasionally required to stand and walk.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Work environment typically characterized by loud noise levels.
• Employee is equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safety purposes.
