TCG Inventory & Events Specialist

TCG Department Specialist Jay’s CD & Hobby – Southside 3315 SE 14th St, Des Moines, IA 50320 Primary Responsibilities (TCG‑Focused) Manage, organize, and merchandise TCG inventory (singles & sealed) Process buy‑ins and trade‑ins with accurate market evaluation Price cards based on condition, demand, and current market trends Authenticate cards and confidently identify counterfeits Build, maintain, and rotate display cases and TCG product areas Create and maintain buy lists Process new releases and manage preorder fulfillment Assist customers with deck building, upgrades, and card recommendations Stay current on MTG formats, metas, ban lists, and upcoming releases Support organized play including tournaments, prereleases, leagues, and in‑store events Help train other staff on foundational TCG knowledge and product familiarity Provide input on ordering, allocation, and inventory decisions Additional Store Responsibilities Deliver excellent customer service across all departments Operate the POS system and process transactions accurately Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and presentation Assist with opening and closing procedures when scheduled Support other departments during high‑traffic periods Receive, process, and stock incoming inventory Contribute to merchandising and visual displays Assist with general store operations as needed Required Knowledge & Experience Advanced knowledge of Magic: The Gathering formats, gameplay, current meta trends, staples, card evaluation, pricing, condition grading, buy‑list strategy, competitive and casual player ecosystems, counterfeit detection, and card authentication Additional TCG Knowledge Preferred Strong familiarity with Pokémon TCG Yu‑Gi‑Oh!
