Project Manager for School Choice Portal Project

The Customer is seeking a Project Manager for the School Choice Portal Project with the following minimum qualifications (these qualifications must be clearly stated on the resume and verifiable via reference checks):

Academic:

• Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), bachelors degree in: Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field, or equivalent work experience. Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is required.

Experience:

• 7+ years of IT work experience, managing projects. Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions. Experience documenting technical and business requirement specifications.

Additional desired skills:

• Ability to act as the primary Project Manager for the School Choice Portal project. Works with the PMO Manager to determine and distribute assignments.
• Possesses extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques.
• Understands complex web-based computer applications and has the ability to guide programming staff through projects.
• Ability to document business and technical requirements and processes that can be understood and used by other technical staff.
• Strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assignments.

General:

• Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to self-learn/learn tools of trade and adapt to different environments with little or no guidance.
• Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate ability to successfully translate business language into technical specifications and present them to non-technical staff using terminology they can understand and relate to.
• Office Tools - Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, and has a working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint. Excellent at time management, estimating level of effort, and meeting or exceeding deadlines.
• Team Player Willing and able to mentor other technical staff and share knowledge.

Deliverables/Tasks

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management of all IT application related projects to include:

• Understanding business and customer requirements that drive the analysis and design of technical solutions.
• Coordinating, status reporting and stability of project-oriented work efforts.
• Establishing and implementing project management processes and methodologies for IT staff to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
• Assembling project plans, creating and managing teamwork assignments. Directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately.
• Preparing test scripts, and conducting tests for the developed objects/processes.
• Responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers.
• Creates and executes unit test plans and test cases, assists the client with acceptance testing prior to production implementation.
• Ensuring compliance with standards through code walkthroughs and metadata reports.
• Understanding and following source code promotion processes.
