Foster Care Case Manager

Role Description The Foster Care Case Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for managing a caseload of foster children and foster homes, conducting regular home visits, and monitoring the safety and well-being of each child. The Case Manager documents case activities, prepares reports, and ensures compliance with state and agency policies. Daily tasks include coordinating services and appointments, supporting foster caregivers, participating in treatment team meetings, and communicating with state caseworkers and other professionals. The role also involves crisis intervention when needed, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to placement decisions that best support each child’s needs. Qualifications Strong case management, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple cases and deadlines effectively. Effective communication, documentation, and report-writing skills to interact professionally with children, caregivers, and external partners. Skills in relationship‑building, conflict resolution, and de‑escalation to support children and foster caregivers in challenging situations. Ability to interpret and follow state regulations, agency policies, and best practices in foster care and child welfare. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field; licensing or certification in social services is preferred. Experience working with children and families in foster care, child welfare, or related social service settings is highly beneficial. Comfort with on‑site work, local travel for home visits, and flexibility to respond to urgent case needs.
