Description Originates residential mortgage loans for existing and prospective Lookout Credit Union members by guiding them through the application process from initial inquiry to closing. Analyzes loan applications, credit profiles, and supporting documentation to evaluate eligibility and risk, making recommendations for approval or denial in accordance with established lending policies and delegated authority limits. Ensures full compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, as well as internal credit union guidelines and procedures. Maintains a high level of professionalism in all interactions with members and staff, fostering strong relationships and trust. Provides exceptional service to both existing and prospective members by offering knowledgeable guidance, clear communication, and timely updates throughout the loan process. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Generates and reviews mortgage loan applications to support loan production goals. Educates members on available loan products and eligibility requirements. Advises members throughout the loan process from origination to funding, ensuring clear understanding of options and next steps. (20%) Analyzes member financial information, including credit history, credit score, collateral, income, and other relevant data to assess risk and the member's ability to repay the loan. Makes loan decisions within delegated authority forwards loan requests for higher level approval when necessary. (20%) Navigates and oversees completion of all loan documents. Ensures documentation is accurate and in compliance with Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements. Completes required reports and records. Meets with members to review loan terms and conditions, facilitates loan closings. (20%) Contributes to the development of lending and deposit business for the Credit Union. Identifies opportunities to cross-sell additional services and products. Promotes the Credit Union's mortgage lending programs within the real estate community. Builds and maintains relationships with real estate agents, builders, and community partners to generate new business. (15%) Maintains current knowledge of mortgage loan products, lending trends, market conditions, and related financial services and products to better serve members' needs. to meet member financial needs. (10%) Evaluates loan acceptability for the secondary mortgage market. (5%) Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required. (5%) Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Achieves or exceeds assigned loan production goals established by management as prescribed by real estate lending manager and senior management. Ensures loan decisions and analysis are made and relayed to appropriate parties within designated timelines. Ensures timely communication of loan decisions and analysis to all appropriate parties. Maintains thorough knowledge of all mortgage products, rates, market trends, and competitor offerings. Ensures all loan decisions comply with applicable Federal, State, and internal policies and procedures. Resolves member and internal inquiries accurately and within established timeframes. Provide informed, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates. Provides professional, knowledgeable, and responsive service to members and team members. Requirements Experience: Three to five years of similar or related mortgage lending experience. Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Other Skills: Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing member and personal services. This includes member needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of member satisfaction. Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and chooses the most appropriate one. Talks to others to convey information effectively. Working knowledge of basic computer skills and applications including email and word processing functions. Use/operate a computer keyboard and 10-key calculator by touch. Attention to detail and entering data accurately is essential. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Written and verbal communication is important to impart detailed information accurately and efficiently to Credit Union members and team members. Must be able to exert up to 30 lbs. of force to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
