Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed! Overview The Substance Abuse Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for managing opioid use disorder. The counselor conducts individual and group sessions, crisis management, coping strategies, evaluates patient progress, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists for optimal outcomes. Responsibilities Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination. Complete biopsychosocial assessments. Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment. Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible. Develop and participate in individual or group patient teaching projects. Perform other duties as determined by supervisor. Qualifications Full or provisional licensure in North Carolina; CADC or LCAS required. At least one year of experience working with Medically Assisted Treatment addiction patients preferred. Demonstrated positive, non-judgmental, accepting attitude toward patients. Personable, adaptable, coachable, with passion for the profession. Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen. Benefits Competitive salary.
