Clinical Data Abstractor Specialist (S)

Job Summary It’s more than a career, it’s a calling.This is a remote role for a Clinical Abstraction Specialist.The preferred candidate resides in one of our four states (MO, OK, IL, WI) and works M-F 8am-5pm.The role requires proficiency with MS Office products, the EPIC system, and the ability to create presentations.Experience in heart procedures such as open-heart surgery, cath lab interventions, critical care, or electrophysiology is desirable. Primary Responsibilities Disseminate data from the medical record accurately reflecting governing body’s rules, algorithms, and protocols. Continuously learn and adapt to registry and regulatory changes. Support collaboration with internal team members and external vendors to ensure inter-rater reliability, data accuracy, and timely submission. Participate in specialized committees or work groups to improve processes and patient outcomes. Identify opportunities for process improvement, new trends, and areas for enhancement. Review and resolve clinical data discrepancies or outliers on completed abstracts. Communicate performance considerations and improvement opportunities to relevant parties. Report findings, opportunities, and trends to management levels. Utilize logical and analytical thinking, attention to detail, and independent or team-based work to manage high-volume workloads. Apply medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to extract facts from records with uncertain documentation quality. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. Experience: One year in healthcare or a related field. Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs; frequent sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive movements; at least occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping. Rare climbing required. Other Requirements: Ability to multi-task, prioritize for a high-volume workload, and complete required certifications if assigned. License / Certification: None required.
