Emergency Veterinarian

Join us as an Emergency Veterinarian at VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County, where you will be supported by world‑class medicine, technology, and a talented, collaborative team. You’ll be empowered to provide high‑quality emergency care to cats and dogs while working alongside experienced ER doctors and a dedicated emergency crew. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive emergency and critical‑care services for cats and dogs. Utilize hands‑free radiology, advanced digital imaging systems, and an in‑house laboratory for rapid diagnostics. Maintain a low‑stress, fear‑free environment for patients and families. Teach, mentor, and collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other physicians. Participate in on‑call, overnight shifts, with up to 50% of scheduled shifts occurring overnight. Engage in continuing education and clinical studies as part of professional development. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university. Active veterinary license in good standing in California (or ability to obtain one). Commitment to the highest standard of medicine and adherence to the veterinary code of ethics. Passion for emergency medicine and critical care, with a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and associates. Schedule Flexible scheduling available for both part‑time and full‑time veterinarians. On‑call and overnight shifts required; up to 50% of scheduled shifts may be overnight. Hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary range: $66,560 - $240,000 (negotiable based on experience and qualifications). Variable pay programs available.
