Part-Time Phlebotomist II

Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring safe and efficient collection from pediatric (ages 2+), adult, and geriatric patients. Explain venipuncture, blood draw, and other specimen collection procedures (such as urine or fecal collection) clearly and courteously to patients to ensure understanding and comfort. Collect, label, and store specimens according to established procedures and specific test requirements to maintain specimen integrity. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all information to ensure 100% accuracy before processing. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist. Proficiency in venipuncture and blood drawing using straight needles, with recent and consistent experience. Experience drawing blood from pediatric (ages 2+), adult, and geriatric patients. Strong phlebotomy skills including blood collection, labeling, and handling of specimens. Work Environment Float between Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital in New Lenox and Orland Park PSC based on volume at the hospital. For example, if the hospital is slower, duties will be performed at Orland Park PSC. Need availability between 7 am–4 pm during the week. Need open availability on weekends and holidays. Candidate will work approximately 20 hours each week. Hospital has about 30–40 patients requiring draws each day, this work will be split among two phlebotomists. Training On‑site training at Orland Park PSC for one week, full‑time schedule. Monday–Friday, 8 am–4:30 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.
