Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician (QA Operator) to join our team at Land O'Lakes in Hicksville. The role focuses on quality inspection, monitoring, and verification across milk receiving, ingredient and kettle, filler, packing, micro and lab testing, and pre-operation checks. The technician will ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and security policies and procedures and will document and enforce standards across assigned areas.

Schedule & Work Environment:

• Mon - Fri, 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM. Schedule subject to change. Weekends may be required based on business needs.
• Noise typical of a production environment during the entire shift. Work in hot and cold temperatures during the entire shift.

Responsibilities:

• GMP, food safety, and security enforcement across assigned production areas.
• Verify compliance with food safety policies and procedures. Complete required documentation.
• Milk receiving: paperwork, sampling, temperature checks, butter fat, acidity, pH, and organoleptic testing.
• Ingredient and kettle checks: paperwork, temperature, salt, Brix, pH, viscosity, RS View kettle release, and organoleptic evaluation.
• Filler operations: paperwork, temperature checks, metal detector and X-ray verification, seal testing, code and weight checks, and retain sample collection.
• Packing operations: paperwork, temperature and code checks, labeling verification, packaging evaluation, and organoleptic evaluation.
• Micro and lab testing: collect water and Listeria samples. Plate and incubate micro samples including milk, eggs, shelf-life, and environmental.
• Pre-operation checks: paperwork, ATP and allergen swabbing, magnet checks, cooler checks, and sanitizer concentration verification.
• Decision-making on product hold and disposition. Determine if in-process product meets specifications for pumping.
• Instruct employees on any GMP and food safety violations as observed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Effective communication with associates, leads, supervisors, and production management.
• Detail orientation and teamwork.
• Willingness to work extended shifts as needed.
• Ability to comprehend science-based material and apply testing methods.
• Ability to comprehend high school level math, including algebra.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with dairy or food manufacturing QA in a GMP environment.
• Familiarity with RS View or similar kettle enabling systems and lab instrumentation.

Physical Demands & Safety:

• Standing for the majority of the shift. Periodic climbing up to 8 feet.
• No routine lifting over 50 lbs. No forklift, tractor, vehicle, manlift, or respirator use.
• Operation of various lab equipment and kettle enabling systems. No confined space work.
