Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for Cook II. The Cook II works closely with the catering partner to support catering operations for the District Conference Center. This role also supports daily service in the Café and assists with the Food Truck, while mentoring students and staff to develop culinary skills. Position Details Job Title: Cook II Salary Structure: Starting at $17.11/hr+ (based on related experience) Position Contract: 12-Month, Non-Exempt, Support Staff, Grade 2 Benefits: Generous monthly allowance toward medical and other benefits; District paid retirement through Oklahoma Teacher's Retirement System. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Experience with Microsoft platform, accounting software, and POS systems. Experience with budgets and procurement. At least 2 years of cooking and/or kitchen management experience; food truck experience preferred. Completed 2 years of Culinary Education. ServSafe Manager certification or ability to obtain. (Above requirements may be met by equivalent combination of education and experience.) Representative Duties Prepare and cook menu items to order, following recipes and product directions for soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, etc. Operate kitchen equipment to measure, mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut and shred produce, and trim meat, poultry or fish. Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies. Promote an environment of mutual respect, effective communication, and diversity support. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Evaluate food selections and supplies for conference spaces and ensure specifications are met. Inspect facilities prior to events to ensure set‑ups and specifications are completed. Order and inventory food items for catering functions and the café. Attend work regularly, following a designated schedule; must work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required. Maintain a clean and sanitized work area in compliance with HACCP. Respond to change productively and handle related tasks as assigned. Maintain a professional appearance and dress suitable for the work environment. Train staff and students in proper kitchen conduct and food handling; oversee sanitation and safety of the truck. Manage staff assisting with food truck operations. Implement and manage inventory system for the food truck and commissary. Perform related duties as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Attention to detail. Knowledge of budgeting, including profit & loss, budget preparation, revenue monitoring, and vendor contracts/licenses. Knowledge of county, state, and federal health and safety codes for commercial food service. Ability to multi‑task and pivot between events. Ability to work under pressure, meet short deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to set priorities, plan, and coordinate with others. Ability to determine customer needs and interpret instructions. Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance; willing to work evenings and Saturdays.
