Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing production lines and facility systems during third shift in a high-standard food manufacturing environment. You will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, support production efficiency, and help ensure the reliability and safety of all equipment and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily maintenance jobs and work orders accurately and on time.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.

• Troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical and electrical systems to minimize downtime.

• Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff to follow and improve work practices and procedures.

• Prepare for maintenance tasks by identifying, requesting, and acquiring necessary parts and materials.

• Communicate effectively with production departments, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership regarding issues that affect production efficiency.

• Document all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage, ensuring all required paperwork is complete and accurate.

• Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements and assist in implementing solutions.

• Support adherence to strict food quality and sanitation regulations within the facility.

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation to perform maintenance and repairs.

• Perform facility maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, as needed.

• Work safely around hydraulic and pneumatic systems and follow all safety procedures.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, with flexibility for less experience when combined with direct food or beverage maintenance experience.

• Hands-on experience with machine maintenance, including preventive maintenance and repair.

• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems.

• Ability to maintain, repair, and install mechanical and electrical components on production equipment.

• Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics.

• Experience in facility maintenance, including basic carpentry tasks.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

• Strong documentation skills to record repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with departments, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership.

• Ability to work 12-hour third-shift rotations on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Direct maintenance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.

• Experience with production or packaging equipment in a high-speed manufacturing setting is a plus.

• Comfort working under strict food quality and sanitation regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvement opportunities.

• Willingness to work a rotating schedule with built-in overtime.

• Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to share best practices with other maintenance staff.

Work Environment

This position operates on a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. third-shift schedule using a 2-2-3 rotation. Mechanics are split into two night shifts: Shift A works every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Saturday, while Shift B works every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and every other Saturday, resulting in three days of work one week and four days the next. The role is based in a milk processing and food manufacturing plant with very high food quality and sanitation standards. The facility is kept highly sanitary, and production staff wear hairnets, gowns, and other appropriate protective attire. Work involves maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, in a structured, process-driven environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $71000.00/yr.

rotating shift, but has built in OT every other week. They work 36 hours one week, 48 hours another week and so on. With that in mind, if someone is making $33/hr they are actually making $36.30 on the year if it is averaged out. They also will get to spend 78 extra days off from the schedule. That is 78 extra days to spend time with their families, not including PTO and holiday pay as well!
