Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of interpreting protocols
• Current national interpreter certification (such as RID or equivalent)
• Prior experience supporting students in elementary educational settings, particularly in a one-on-one capacity
• Ability to collaborate with educational staff, therapists, and families to ensure optimal support
• Flexible, positive, and professional attitude
• Capacity to maintain confidentiality and adhere to school district policies
• Open to candidates of any gender

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for classroom instruction, school activities, and interactions
• Adapt communication style for a young learner’s developmental and educational needs
• Assist with conveying curriculum information, assignments, and social interactions
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes, as required
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other relevant conferences
• Work closely with classroom teacher and staff to ensure a seamless educational experience
• Uphold ethical standards and student privacy at all times

This full-time role offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, all performed on-site at an elementary school in the Hazel Green area.
