Consumer Protection Specialist I

Preferred Qualifications Typically requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 0-1 years of experience. About the Position This position is in the Weights and Measures Division of the Department. The Bureau of Regulatory Services is seeking qualified persons to fill the position of Consumer Protection Specialist I. This is a first level professional position in inspective and enforcement work in statewide commerce, including scales and measuring devices used in trade and commerce, food safety, and fuel quality. Assist in enforcing state and federal rules and regulations and following model laws and guidelines. Collect and test samples. Assist in investigating violations, securing information, maintaining reports. Prepare and deal with emergency management noncompliance issues. Assist in prosecution and enforcement of regulations. Physical duties: lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, handling, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending. Possess a valid driver’s license to regularly operate a state vehicle.
